October 1, 2015 is National Cocoa Day. This holiday was born out of the need to have a special date to celebrate a biodiversity product, which was declared in 2011 by Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías as a strategic sector in our country.
The celebration of this date is due to the work done to promote Venezuela as the country with the greatest genetic diversity of cacao in the world, in addition to the production of 100% organic cocoa and the efforts of the producers of this product.
The Our Earth Foundation, through technical cacao tables, disseminates among the population the achievements achieved in the sector under the leadership of organized cacao farmers.
Our Earth seeks to promote the domestic consumption of high quality cocoa and chocolate, as well as the export with added value. To do this, cocoa productivity must be increased and the defense of the genetic diversity of our seeds must be strengthened.
