In the Sucre municipality of Miranda state, ten communes will be reactivated through communal banks with the delivery of microfinance to direct communal social ownership companies and ventures in their community to encourage the economy in their territories.

The Deputy Minister of Community Economy, Saúl Osio, explained from the Parque Caiza Rural Tourism District that in this first phase, each Community Bank will receive the equivalent of 20,000 units of credit value, so that they can issue microfinance to the productive units or enterprises chosen in meetings.

He added that these ten communal banks will receive resources from the National Fund of Popular Power Service (SAFONAPP), which is a decentralized entity of the Ministry for the Communes that manages and controls the resources allocated to the organized people for the execution of socio-productive projects, and thus start this week with the delivery of credits.

He also explained during an event with spokespersons from these communes, which was also attended by the team of vice-ministers of the Ministry and the Presidency of their affiliated entities, that communal banks will work with revolving funds, that is, with the resources that return from the payments of these first loans, new financing will be given to other entrepreneurs and producers.

The spokesman for the Indio Mariche Commune, Javier Roa, one of the ten communes in the Sucre municipality that have reactivated their communal bank, explained that these loans will encourage small producers in the community to increase their production. He indicated that this commune is made up of villages that live on agricultural and livestock production.

“We produce for our self-support and for nearby communities of Petare, Guarenas, Guatire and Santa Lucía,” he said. Among the agricultural products they produce, Roa said, are lemons, California oranges, tangerines, coffee and avocados. And when it comes to animal husbandry, chickens, turkey and pigs stand out, on a small and medium scale.
