The Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, announced that the Public Ministry (MP) requested the review of measures 225 from defendants linked to the violent events that occurred in the country on 29 and 30 July, after the election results were announced.

Saab explained that this request “focuses on family reunification and consolidates the commitment of Venezuelan institutions to territorial peace” and is in accordance with the provisions of article 49 of the Constitution.

He also indicated that this action comes “after exhaustive investigations and methodical work carried out by our researchers, reviewing each of the causes that may merit a review of the measure” while adding that it is a call from President Nicolás Maduro who has the support of the Judiciary and the Legislative Branch.

The head of the criminal action added that the Public Ministry has treated family members of people who have been arrested for their participation in these events.
