The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, announced that in his statements, Samark López, he revealed that fugitives from justice Leopoldo López and Julio Borges have directly benefited from illegal allocations of crude oil shipments.

In this regard, Saab announced that with these new revelations, the prosecutors in the case will proceed to request a new arrest warrant against Leopoldo López and Julio Borges, in addition to a new request for extradition for their involvement in the PDVSA-Cripto corruption scheme

During a press conference, from the headquarters of the Public Ministry (MP) in Caracas, the Prosecutor explained that through two star contractors, “one of whom had been doing business with PDVSA since the time of Rafael Ramírez, they granted shipments of crude oil for the benefit of Leopoldo López and Julio Borges.”

“These shipments, Samark López says, are valued at more than 1 billion dollars. This is disgusting behavior. With what morals are they going to talk about oil corruption now? Primero Justicia (PJ) was born with funds stolen from PDVSA, these surnames come from the time of the Fourth Republic benefiting,” said the Prosecutor.

In that sense, he assured that they have no morals to talk about corruption because they are part of it. “What will they say to the opposition bases? That they were sent to the streets while they were very comfortable or in golden exile.”

“How are they going to fill their mouths talking about Ramírez's corruption when they were beneficiaries of outsourced contracts. The two modalities used were the assignment of oil shipments and there was a second modality, where these contractors were required, instead of paying the price of crude oil, to send fuel or diluent, to be mixed and produce oil in Venezuela,” said the Prosecutor.

He also argued that the minimum shipments were 2 million barrels per ship; with an approximate value between 120 and 140 million dollars, depending on their market price. “The contractors also had a double profit; because they earned from the sale of oil and they also earned from the sale of the supply of the input they were sending to the Republic. What a barbarity!”

In the first phase of the PDVSA-Cripto plot, 54 people were arrested, to which 13 were added in this second phase, for a total of 67.
