MP: 1,62 arrested, 77 officials injured and one killed is the result of the guarimbas

The Attorney General of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, offered statements to the media this Wednesday, from the headquarters of the Public Ministry (MP), to report on the actions taken by the institution against violence.

During his statements, he specified that unlike in 2017, “there is a Public Ministry here and there is a justice system that will not allow an escalation of these embryos of civil war.”

In this regard, he pointed out that for the attack on Hidrocaribe, in Nueva Esparta, 20 subjects were arrested, including 4 teenagers. “These criminals attacked military officials, causing injuries to several of them and also vandalized the facilities of the HydroCaribe Headquarters, causing serious damage to facilities and vehicles. They will be charged with hate speech and terrorism,” he said.

In addition, he indicated that in La Guaira, the criminals Harey Romero and Jefferson Padrón were arrested and charged, who presented themselves as leaders of an extremist group that, through videos broadcast on social networks, threatened the population with violent and destabilizing acts, trying to cause panic and anxiety.

While in Lara, the criminals José Sánchez, Danny Veliz, Luis Sivira, Yercanel López and 3 teenagers were arrested and charged, who on July 29, as part of a vandalism and extremist group, violently attacked facilities in the Transbarca Terminal, causing serious damage to the units and stealing one of the cranes that later set fire.

The head of the criminal action specified that so far there are 1,662 detainees, if any of them could be determined by the investigation that when they were in the places they had no participation, there is justice here and they will be released. He also added that there are 77 officials injured and 1 murdered in the state of Aragua.
