MOTHER MURDERED IN THE “SAN CARLOS BARRACKS” WHILE VISITING HER SON
(CLARÍN, APRIL 1, 1963)
- On March 30, 1963, Mrs. Albertina Pino de Travieso was shot to death by the National Guard (GN) while paying a Sunday visit to her son who was imprisoned in the San Carlos Barracks for political reasons.
- Inside the prison, the mother received a rifle shot that shattered her heart, while three other people were injured.
- Another son of the murdered mother, Adolfo Travieso Pino, warned that what happened had no explanation or excuse, because he had already been reported to the barracks authorities about the excesses in the use of regulatory weapons during the visits. Without any action being taken on these warnings.
- The arrested son, Isidro Travieso Pino, had been imprisoned in the San Carlos Barracks since November 1962, accused of subversive political links, without having been explained to him what the charges were or the reason for the police procedure that led to his arbitrary arrest.
