The Ministry of Popular Power for Urban Agriculture (MINPPAU), in conjunction with the Ministry of Popular Power for Education (MPPE), has trained 721 teachers who live in seven municipalities in the state of Apure, through the Carlos Lanz National Program for Comprehensive Training and Ongoing Support, with the objective of promoting Agrifood Security, as a priority in educational and training centers.

This was stated by Joel González, state director of the MINPPAU in Apure, who emphasized that the Foundation for Training and Innovation to Support the Agrarian Revolution (CIARA), an organization attached to the MINPPAU, began this training process at the National Institute for Training and Socialist Education (INCES) in the municipality of San Fernando, with the participation of 95 teachers and trainers from the Center for the Development of Educational Quality.

He highlighted that the topics that were addressed during the training sessions in the 7 municipalities of the state are: Conuco Escolar; Design of Agrourban Spaces; Urban Agriculture; Urban and Agrourban Modalities; Sleep and Agroecological Management; Seed, Water and Water Harvest, Bioinputs and Breeding of Minor Species, among others.

For his part, Claudio Carreño, coordinator of the CIARA Foundation, in the entity, reported that to date 16 training workshops have been held, addressing topics such as “My School Conuco” and “Designs of Agrourban Spaces”, through the Carlos Lanz National Training Program, and seeks to promote an agro-urban and ecosocialist conception, based on respect for the rights of Mother Earth and the well-being of the population.

He stressed the importance of promoting the creation, organization and training of the My Conuco Carlos Lanz Agrourban School Brigade, in all educational institutions in the country. “This involves students, workers, administrators, teachers, educational communities, Bolivarian Family Movement (MBF) and other actors, to achieve the necessary institutional and cultural changes, promoting the model of endogenous and sovereign development through the growth of social production, the correction of imbalances and environmental sustainability to achieve a decent quality of life,” he added.
