A total of 552 road awareness classrooms have been installed in the country during Holy Week to guide drivers who have committed some type of violation or failed to comply with the established regulations on the subject, said the Deputy Minister of Prevention, Public Safety and Peace Quadrants, G/D Endes Palencia Ortíz.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace, Palencia indicated that officials from the National Institute of Land Transportation (INTT), the Land Traffic Directorate of the Bolivarian National Police Corps (CPNB) and the Bolivarian National Guard Road Service (GNB) are responsible for giving talks to drivers.

“We are jointly carrying out these tasks of supervising care for our people, primarily in terms of prevention, to reduce road accidents during this holiday,” said Palencia.

The Deputy Minister urged the population to adhere to traffic recommendations and regulations to avoid any type of incident, so he invited them to check their vehicle before starting their trip; to use a seat belt at all times; to have boys and girls in the back seats; and not to drink alcoholic beverages.

He recalled that 85% of road accidents are caused by sudden channel changes, speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

“This device will be active until Monday afternoon, when the largest mobilization of people has ended, so we will ensure that all those who return can do so safely and expeditiously, with the support of our citizen security bodies, the GNB and the National Risk Management System,” concluded Palencia.
