More than 430,000 people have fled to Syria since the start of the Israeli Zionist attack on Lebanon, according to a statement by the spokeswoman for the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Rula Amin.
“More than 430,000 people have fled Lebanon to Syria since the conflict with Israel worsened. 70 percent are Syrian citizens and 30 percent are Lebanese,” Amin said, according to a quote from Sputnik.
The spokeswoman also added that the Israeli Army is bombing border checkpoints between Lebanon and Syria, endangering refugees and complicating the situation. “One of the attacks occurred in the immediate vicinity of the refugee reception center created by the UN.”
Israel invaded southern Lebanon on October 1 on the grounds of a ground operation against the Lebanese Hezbollah movement.
To date, air strikes continue, which have so far left more than 2,500 fatalities, including children and women, and more than 11,800 injured. More than a million people became refugees.
