A total of 3,396 domestic and community animals currently remain under shelter and comprehensive care in the state of Aragua through the Aragüeño Animal Welfare System (SABA).
This was reported by the state coordinator of SABA, Manuel Hernández, who stressed that these indicators consolidate an immediate response network as part of the public policies promoted by Governor Joana Sánchez to guarantee protection, public health and decent treatment of fauna in the municipalities of the entity.
According to a press release, Hernández explained that the operational structure has 158 active protectionists distributed in 23 shelters, 56 temporary homes and 79 combined care spaces, also supported by the daily work of 11 veterinary doctors and a force of 561 volunteers comprised of 427 women and 134 men with an average age of 40 years.
Regarding the fight against animal abuse, the spokesperson specified that the institution maintains a high response effectiveness in dealing with 321 complaints processed before the system, of which 263 have been satisfactorily resolved to reach 82 percent of cases resolved.
He added that there are currently 30 recently filed complaints, 5 files under review, 1 case in active processing and 22 filed due to the lack of information needed to locate the incident. Finally, the coordinator highlighted that the complementary crematorium service has so far processed 9 requests aimed at providing a decent farewell to companion animals, managing to complete 6 requirements, keeping 2 in pending status and registering a cancellation.
