With the firm intention of leveraging the local economy and strengthening food sovereignty in Monagas, a total of 2,785 producers are strengthening their commitment to agricultural production through the socio-productive plans promoted by the entity.

In this regard, the sole authority of communes in the entity, Julio Castillo, highlighted the integration of this large sector of small and medium-sized farmers into endogenous agricultural development in yellow corn, caraotas, beans, coffee and cocoa with the Communal Agrifood Plan “Admirable Challenge” 2026, the Community Coffee Plan and the Community Plan for Cocoa.

“The producers in the participating communes are pleased with these plans. They have been able to familiarize themselves with the modality of the agronomic package applied by the Bolivarian Government for the cultivation of these strategic sectors, which will favor the people of Monagua in the future,” said Castillo.

He also explained that the economic project has achieved positive results in its first phase, which included the planting of corn and caraotas in the winter cycle.

In addition, he explained that the phase, carried out between mid-May and the beginning of October, covered more than 5,300 hectares of strategic areas, favoring more than 580 producers from at least 12 communes in the municipalities of Aguasay, Cedeño, Ezequiel Zamora, Acosta, Piar and Maturín.
