1,767 forest fires have occurred in the country and have been attended by members of the National Risk Management System, said the minister of ecosocialism, Josué Lorca.

During an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Lorca pointed out that 44 forest fires have been registered in the state of Aragua alone, affecting more than 900 hectares.

In this regard, he stressed that 90 percent of vegetation fires are caused by humans, so he called on the conscience of the people and to denounce those who commit these actions against the environment.

He also indicated that to date 12 people, 7 in Aragua and Mérida, have been arrested in the states of Aragua and Mérida and have been arrested for causing forest fires.

As for the forest fire that broke out in Henry Pittier Park, he pointed out that it is “contained” so that officials of the National Risk Management System are working to completely put down it.

He noted that 120 officials, supported by two helicopters, are still fighting this forest fire.

“We have been applying certain locks at specific points in the park that are endangered by the fire, however, the flow of seasonal workers has remained completely normal. We do 20 or 30 minute traps and the seasoners are escorted so that they can pass safely to the Gold Coast,” he said while calling on visitors to make forecasts for their return.
