More than 12,000 people killed by conflict in Sudan

This Thursday, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that more than 12,000 people have died in the war between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (FAR), which broke out on April 15.

“Sudan is now the country with the highest number of displaced people and the largest child displacement crisis in the world,” OCHA stressed, while detailing that 6.6 million people have been forced to leave their homes.

In this regard, he explained that 80 children have been identified among those detained by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Ardamata, Western Darfur, while warning that this number could be higher.

According to the TELESUR web portal, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), around 1.3 million people have crossed borders into neighboring countries, including the Central African Republic, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia and South Sudan.
