Nearly 130 Israeli soldiers have signed a letter addressed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declaring their desertion.
The information was provided by the Spanish journalist, Pascual Serrano, during an interview with the news agency Venezuela News.
The document states that the objective of desertion is the neglect and abandonment of kidnapped Israelis and that this situation has reached a level of murder of thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, meaning that the objective of the operation, according to the letter, was to recover hostages from the Jewish State and not to bomb innocent people.
“Equipped with my telescopic sight and night vision, I found myself in front of a Palestinian civilian who didn't seem to pose a threat. That led me to question the morality of my actions and the purpose of the mission,” said Assaf, one of the signatories of the letter.
Along with other soldiers, Assaf participated in operations against Hamas with the objective of preventing what happened on October 7, 2023. However, he soon discovered that, instead of prioritizing the rescue of hostages, military actions resulted in the massacre of innocent civilians, according to the press release.
