A total of 350,000 animals, including cattle and buffaloes, distributed in approximately 4,000 characterized production units, is the immunization goal established for the 13 municipalities of the state of Monagas after the official start of the second vaccination cycle against foot-and-mouth disease.

With the fundamental purpose of certifying Venezuela as a territory free of this disease, the day is carried out by a multidisciplinary team composed of livestock associations and national and regional public institutions, according to the regional press.

The national director of Integral Animal Health of the National Institute of Integra Agricultural Health (INSAI), Wilmer Alcázar, reported that this complementary dosing phase will remain active until December 15.

In addition, Alcázar highlighted that the nation has been without outbreaks of the virus for 13 years, a key health achievement with which they hope to obtain official certification from the World Organization for Animal Health (WHO) by the year 2030.
