The Ministry of University Education is carrying out a series of investigations in several states of the country, in order to identify the causes of the gaps between the academic offer of universities and the aspirations of Venezuelan high school graduates, explained the head of the university portfolio, Ana María Sanjuán.

In statements replicated by the newspaper Último Noticias, Sanjuán explained that studies are being carried out from the territory to determine how to improve the academic offer and make it more attractive to young people in their own states.

“We are already doing some research in several states of the country, to find out what are the causes of our large gaps between those offered by universities and the aspirations of high school students to study. We are going to do focal studies as well and then we are going to try to know how to improve that offer so that it is attractive to students in their own states,” he said.

On the other hand, he urged schools that have not yet responded to the applications of students with averages of 19 and 19.9 points, who failed to obtain a place despite their outstanding academic performance.

In this regard, he called on schools to support the requests of these baccalaureates and facilitate their incorporation into the national university system. “I call on the universities that are waiting to respond to the demands of these students, to support us in giving them the space they are applying for due to their high academic merits,” he emphasized.

The minister reiterated that work on the National Entry System continues, with the purpose of reviewing opportunities for access to university education and meeting the aspirations of young Venezuelans.
