Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Message from the Minister of People's Power for Defense

203 years have passed and the strident targets and the intense trepidation of chivalry still resound in the rugged Sabana de Carabobo... We can still see the indomitable strength of this plethora of soldiers led by General in Chief Simón Bolivar, who, from the top of Mount Buena Vista, watched with suspicion the deployment of the troops of the Spanish Empire. That June 24, 1821, the Architect of American Freedom, wielding his combat sabre and supported by undaunted warriors such as Manuel Cedeño, Ambrosio Plaza, José Antonio Páez, Juan José Rondón and Pedro Camejo, urged the distinguished patriots to be undefeated, and then sculpted, among plains and gorges, what would become the everlasting home of the Liberation Army.

The epic day, in which the people became soldiers to seal with blood and fire our freedom, sovereignty and independence, was the most remarkable act of weapons in the history of Venezuela. From there comes the libertarian vocation; the revolutionary, anti-imperialist, popular, nationalist and anti-oligarchic character of our Army, which, riding on the glory of this brilliant triumph, continued the emancipatory feat of much of the south of the American continent, which is why it was consecrated as the Forger of Liberties. For this reason, it is imperative to remember that just this year we will commemorate the Bicentennial of the Battles of Junín and Ayacucho, always with our sights set on Latin American unity and the construction of the Great Nation.

Today, the Bolivarian Army, deployed throughout the Territorial Defensive System, has succeeded in projecting itself as a highly dissuasive entity, committed to scientific-technological innovation, the modernization of its equipment and the continuous training of its human talent, demonstrating, under different circumstances, that it is prepared to combat new threats from foreign powers that still intend to impose their chains on us.

Women and men of my beloved Bolivarian Army! Full of the irreducible passion that lurks in the soul of a soldier, I congratulate them with infinite admiration. My special deference to Major General José Antonio Murga Baptista, their General Commander, who leads them correctly. May the immortal fire of our liberators be the torch that illuminates them in the new counter-hegemonic battles that we must wage, always invoking the protection of the Supreme Creator and of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel.

LONG LIVE THE GLORIOUS LIBERATION ARMY!!!

Chávez lives!... The Homeland continues, Independence and Socialist Homeland... We will live and we will overcome! Independence or Nadal! Always loyal!... (Traitors never! The Venezuelan Sun rises in the Essequibo!

Vladimir Padrino López

General in Chief
