Minister Villegas unveils bust of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes at the Casona Cultural

Through the social network X, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, unveiled the bust of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes, in the Aquiles Nazoa Cultural House, as a tribute to the commemoration of the 290th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding soldier, known by his nickname “The Terror of the English”.

“Today #9May marks the 290th anniversary of the birth of General Domingo Antonio Sifontes, also known as “The Terror of the English” (...) We celebrated his anniversary with the unveiling of a bust of this famous Venezuelan, the work of the young sculptor Josué Benjamín Figueroa,” Villegas wrote on the social network.

He also highlighted that the unveiling ceremony was accompanied by the music of the renowned artist, Iván Pérez Rossi, who delighted those present with a piece composed in tribute to this character in Venezuelan independence history.

He emphasized that the work of the young sculptor Josué Benjamín Figueroa symbolizes Venezuelan resistance to the colonial pretensions of the time, and stands as a reminder of Sifontes' courage and commitment to the defense of Guiana Essequiba.
