Minister Villegas signed a file to apply for the Venezuelan arepa as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Through the social network Threads, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, shared the signing of the file to nominate the Venezuelan arepa as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity before the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

“I have the privilege of stamping my signature on this file, which has been prepared for months by a team led by teacher Benito Irady,” he said, noting that the document that will be presented to UNESCO is called “The Venezuelan arepa: elaboration, consumption and identity in the family and public space”.

Villegas highlighted that this work is part of the tasks instructed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, as part of the launch of the Great Mission Viva Venezuela, my dear Homeland, with the objective of continuing to recognize and strengthen the cultural identity of Venezuelans and Venezuelans.

He also reiterated his recognition of the work carried out by the Center for Cultural Diversity in conjunction with Venezuelan communities to achieve the consolidation of this file.
