Minister Villegas mourns the death of Venezuelan film director César Bolívar

One of the greats of Venezuelan cinema changed his plan

The Venezuelan Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, announced this Friday the death of film and television director, César Bolívar.

“Who would have imagined that César Bolívar, an immense director of Venezuelan cinema, would change his plan one day after Corpus Christi, that being the name and context of one of his great films,” Villegas highlighted in his account on the social network X.

He also said that “the pain is deep among his colleagues in the world of cinema, but he left enough mark, disciples and admirers for every Sunday to be a resurrection Sunday as long as the new generations follow his example. Honor and glory to César Bolívar!”

The outstanding Venezuelan artist was born on September 4, 1944 in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, and previously worked as a cameraman in film and television. Previously, he had studied law, pedagogy and mathematics.

César Augusto Bolívar Massó directed several highly successful dramatized series for television, such as Sangre Azul, awarded by the New York Film Critics Association, and The Rómulo Gallegos cycle.

Among his most memorable films are Wrongful Homicide, Easter Sunday, Death in High Contrast, Juan Topocho and Corpus Chris ti.
