Minister Villegas installed the First Multiethnic and Multicultural Meeting for Peace in Yaracuy

This weekend, the Minister of
Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, accompanied by the Minister of Popular
Power for Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, installed the First Multiethnic and Multicultural
Meeting for Peace, Respect and Tolerance, in the Cerro María Lionza Natural Monument, also known as Sorte Mountain, located
in the state of Yaracuy.
According to Venezolana de Televisión, the
activity was a space for fraternal encounter, the exchange of
experiences of faith and spirituality, the research and dissemination of
ancestral and religious knowledge in the context of the national identity expression of the cult of María Lionza.
In addition, the holder of the culture portfolio
took advantage of the space to deliver the certificate that enshrines “The
Candle Dance” as Cultural Heritage of Venezuela, in recognition of the
traditions that are part of the collective imagination and historical memory.
“We certify that El Baile en Candela is registered in the Venezuelan Cultural Heritage register, exercising and enriching culture,” he said and recalled that this tradition is celebrated every October 11 during the night around the 12th, when the Day of Indigenous Resistance is commemorated in the South American nation.
