The Minister of Popular Power for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Vladímir Padrino López, reported on the progress of the National Herd Characterization Plan and the deployment of the Second Bovine Vaccination Cycle 2026, a key initiative to strengthen food sovereignty in the country.
“We are in the closing phase of this process, which will end on December 18,” said the minister, noting that this strategic action will make it possible to obtain an accurate diagnosis of the livestock sector.
He stated that “this State action is fundamental because it will give us an exact picture of the size of the national herd, the producers, the properties and their forms of production.”
Padrino López stressed that these data will be “indispensable inputs for designing public policies aimed at genetic improvement and increasing productive performance.”
He reaffirmed that from November 1 to December 15, the Second Bovine Vaccination Cycle 2026 has been taking place.
The minister emphasized that consolidating the sanitary fence is a strategic priority for the country. “This commitment to animal health is especially relevant in the face of the global challenges of climate change, among other aspects, since working without a firm epidemiological shield could compromise the country's economy and the livelihood of producer families,” he said.
He argued that these actions protect the work of rural producers and ensure national supply. “Precisely these plans guarantee that the efforts of our producers are safe from any outbreak and the peace of mind of knowing that the meat and milk they produce reaches the communities' table safely,” he said.
Padrino called on the team and the producers to keep up the pace of work in the auction phase. “The challenge is to cover the entire territory so that no head of cattle is left out of the register,” he stressed.
