One month after the deployment of the National Cattle Herd Plan in the field, the Minister for Productive Agriculture and Lands, Vladimir Padrino López, held a meeting with representatives of the main livestock unions to review the balance sheet and the progress of this statistical operation.
During the meeting, Padrino and representatives of the sector evaluated the collection of information, whose central objective is to collect reliable and verifiable data on the population and distribution of the cattle and buffalo herd in Venezuelan territory.
He also recalled that, with great collective effort and will, the country seeks to take a strategic step to obtain international certification as a country free of foot-and-mouth disease, which means a great boost to the Venezuelan livestock sector.
“36 days of effort in sight,” Padrino stressed, asserting that the coordination and active participation of union leaders are fundamental to this task of national interest.
The minister called for maintaining the momentum of the deployment of Livestock Characterization, stressing that the survey is carried out under strict criteria of confidentiality and reliability.
The Venezuelan Foundation for Animal Health Services (Funvesa) participated in the working meeting, as well as representatives of Fedenaga, Confagan, Convecar, Cavilac, Criabúfalos, Asobarinas, Asogami, Asoganort, Asocabra, Aprogan, Fegalago and the National Peasant Union “Ezequiel Zamora”.
