The transport minister, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán, described the fire in the parking lots of the TransAragua system as an act as a criminal and planned act.

Araguayan explained that of these 80 burned units were included in a recovery plan to be placed at the service of the Aragueño people.

In that regard, he explained that “we do not hesitate to describe this event as a criminal, planned act, considering that, currently, as a result of the forest fires that are taking place in Henri Pittier Park, all the potential of the state's firefighters were destined to put out this fire.”

He specified that because of this fact, a citizen is being arrested who allegedly started the fire and assured that the State Security Bodies are carrying out investigations to determine if there are others involved in the act.

“We are going to respond as quickly as possible to this event that seeks to disturb the peace of the people of Venezuela,” said the Minister.

The arson attack in the parking lots of the TransAragua transportation system destroyed 112 buses.
