Minister of Ecosocialism and AN are working on the Essequibo Environmental Protection Bill

This joint work, together with the Permanent Commission on Ecosocialism, chaired by the deputy Ricardo Molina and the Deputy Minister of Planning, Edgar Valero, is part of the fifth objective of the Plan for the Homeland.

This Thursday, the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca Vega, held a meeting with deputies to the National Assembly (AN) with the objective of developing the Special Law on Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development for our Guiana Esequiba.

In this regard, Lorca indicated that the ministry provided complementary and fundamental proposals for the development of the legal instrument.

“This proposed bill contributes to the creation of an article for the protection of native species, hydrographic basins, protection and rights of native peoples, the fight against illegal mining and wildlife trafficking,” he said through the social network X.

In the same way, he specified that we are working on a framework for sustainable development in the oil and forest area, as well as the preparation of our people through education to ensure the mitigation of the climate crisis.

“As instructed by our commander, it is proposed to create Areas Under the Special Administration Regime with figures such as: National Parks, Natural Monuments, Biosphere Reserves, Wildlife Refuges and Rural Areas for Integrated Development in the Essequibo,” he said.

It is worth noting that this joint work together with the Permanent Commission on Ecosocialism chaired by Deputy Ricardo Molina and Deputy Minister of Planning Edgar Valero is part of the fifth objective of the Homeland Plan.
