This Tuesday, September 29, the People's Power Minister for Electric Energy (MPPEE), Rolando Alcalá, reported that as part of Venezuela's thermoelectric and hydroelectric recovery plan, the Bolivarian Government plans to add more than 1,000 megawatts (MW) to the National Electric System (SEN), until next December.

During a presentation addressed to the country, on an assessment of the current situation of the SEN and the actions carried out by the sector's workforce, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, Alcalá specified that this action should be carried out through the recovery of generation units in facilities such as the Central Thermoelectric Plant (Central Plant) and the G/J Rafael Urdaneta Thermoelectric Complex (TERMOZULIA) in addition to other regional plants.

He stressed that “it is important to mention the start-up in the coming days of Unit 6 of Planta Centro. This power plant will provide 600 megawatts to the National Electricity System, which will allow for stability in the central and central-western regions of the country.”

“In addition, we are going to incorporate seven units in the state of Zulia with a contribution of more than 500 megawatts for this state and other units nationwide that in total mean 1,300 megawatts in this last quarter of 2026, which will serve for stability, more continuity and fewer interruptions in the electricity service for all users nationwide,” he explained.
