Last Wednesday, March 13, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, presented and named his book “Maja Mía”, which narrates the life of his mother, Maja Poljak.

“An effort of historical reconstruction of the life of my mother, Maja Poljak, alias María Vera, written on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of her birth,” he said, referring to the research carried out to consolidate the 633 pages of the work.

Also, according to information from Alba Ciudad, Villegas indicated that he spent a whole year writing it in the early morning hours. At the same time, he thanked the assistance of his family and dear friends who came to life in the auditorium of the newspaper Última Noticias, in Caracas, for the naming of his work.

“More than a christening, it was an unforgettable act of love. It began with a choreography, created by Jericó Montilla, who cried trembling from start to finish. Watching your parents dance, fight and love each other, beyond death, was an extreme mouse-opener,” he said.

He highlighted the words offered by the book's prologuists, as well as those of his brothers. “Outside the program, my brothers Vladimir and Mario and my sister Asia wanted to speak, with words that I will always carry in my soul. I was honored with their presence by several ambassadors and senior officials, journalists, poets, storytellers, artists, more in their capacity as friends than as such. It was an event marked by the diversity of the audience, in some cases unthinkable, given the past and present confrontations,” he said.
