This Friday, March 15, a Meeting of Petrochemical Women took place in Carabobo state with the Minister of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality and head of the Great Venezuela Women's Mission, Dheliz Álvarez.

In a press release from the aforementioned Ministry, Álvarez highlighted that 30% of the Venezuelan Petrochemical (PEQUIVEN) workforce are women, an admirable and remarkable fact, since in previous times female participation did not reach 10%.

“This company is fundamental to the Venezuelan economy, because women have demonstrated the capacity we have to solve problems and it has been something in which President Nicolás Maduro gave us confidence, giving us the leadership of the Great Venezuela Women's Mission,” she said.

He also noted that PEQUIVEN was apparently destined for the presidents of this company to be men, and seeing that today the president is a woman is a reason for celebration and joy, since it represents the leadership of Venezuelan women.

She added that working women not only work in petrochemicals, but also in the rest of the oil industry, making Venezuela an exemplary country.

For her part, the president of PEQUIVEN, Ninoska La Concha, listed the achievements achieved by women in petrochemistry within the framework of the policies promoted by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.

In this regard, she explained that “we set standards in terms of organization, participation and empowerment in all spheres with continuous and permanent organization, establishing offices for the care of petrochemical women at the national level.”

He specified that these are five offices designed to serve more than 1,400 petrochemical women.

He also mentioned the creation of “a space called 'With M for woman', highlighting female empowerment and the valuation of women.

“At the health level, we have undertaken 30 days of medical care for women, and we have 22 national women's committees with 111 petrochemical women for the Great Venezuela Women's Mission,” she stressed.
