After holding a meeting with the governor of the state of Sucre, Gilberto Pinto in Cumaná, the Sectorial Vice President for Public Security and Peace, Remigio Ceballos, assured that in this entity in the east of the country, the crime rate fell by 16% during the third week of February 2024.
“At the national level, we have a 25% reduction in the crime rate for this past week and Sucre maintains a 16% drop in that area,” said Ceballos, according to a press release published on the website of the Minister of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace.
He stressed that this achievement of reducing the crime percentage in the Sucrense region is thanks to the ethical and scientific work of the various security bodies, whose officials combat the fight against crimes, always under the premise of respect for human rights, which shows that Venezuela's police model is the best in Latin America.
He also pointed out that the scientific work carried out to analyze the circumstances of the crime, both in the aforementioned eastern entity and in the rest of the country, made it possible to reduce this scourge.
He announced that the operations of national, state and municipal police officers, together with the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), will continue to guarantee healthy citizen coexistence and protect the population of the state of Sucre.
For his part, Governor Pinto said that methods are being applied to maintain police surveillance through Citizen Service Points, installed every 20 kilometers of the state's road arteries.
“We are going to consolidate peace to continue to keep Sucre a secure state,” he said.
