This Friday, June 14, the Minister of Popular Power for Agriculture and Lands, Wilmar Castro Soteldo, highlighted that some of the most important achievements that have been made in the coffee sector are the process of training, education and support for producers.

In this regard, he stressed that the International Coffee Meeting, which is being held for the third time in Venezuela, has served to identify producers who have made extraordinary efforts to have quality coffee.

“We also discovered Venezuelan coffee tasters, who were practically lagging behind and who began to become visible (...) and after these meetings they were given the task of going all over the country to disseminate the experience of specialty coffee and to teach how to work with our coffee growers to improve agronomic practices,” he said.

He also highlighted that thanks to these efforts, producers realized the great benefits of the International Coffee Meeting.

In turn, he emphasized that Venezuelan coffee today has the three flavor profiles that define coffee in the world. “These profiles were endorsed, certified and strengthened by the tasters who came for the first time and other tasters who came again,” he said.

In addition, he specified that Venezuela is now going to a stage of certification of the subregions where coffee is produced.
