With the raising of the national tricolor on the flag pole of the National Pantheon and an emotional act to honor the martyrs of the resistance struggle against the imperial invasion that began in 1492, the sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón and representatives of the original peoples, the commemorative events of the Day of Indigenous Resistance began.
“532 years ago, our original peoples showed Spanish imperialism the importance of “honor, courage and dignity,” said Cabello from the Mausoleum of the Liberator where the symbolic remains of the Grand Chief Guaicaipura were placed to offer to all the heroes of this fight against imperialism.
The Minister for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, after highlighting the fierce resistance demonstrated by indigenous peoples, reproached that currently the heirs of the Spanish monarchy and the European and regional right wing are claiming the genocide committed against the inhabitants of these lands more than 500 years ago.
“They are claiming the genocide committed against the Peoples of our America, they are the same people who claim the genocide committed every day by the terrorists who govern the Zionist State of Israel, they are the same people who came to this land to wipe out a people that lived in harmony, in community, a wise people, they are the same people who for centuries have stolen natural resources from poor peoples,” he said.
Faced with this, he urged all people to take charge of the combative spirit, resistance and courage of indigenous warriors to continue fighting against old and new empires until they achieve victory.
“Let us be charged with that spirit, that indomitable strength of our original Peoples, with simplicity and humility, but also with the highest dignity of our Peoples. Let us be proud to carry in our blood, the blood of the warriors of our country. Honor and glory to them,” he said.
Finally, he emphasized that, faced with the threats of imperialism, Venezuelans “just as we kick them out, so we will kick them out of trying something against our country.”
