The Minister of Popular Power for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, described the Second National Popular Consultation 2026 as a success and announced that funding to implement the chosen projects will begin to arrive next week, with the purpose of completing the works in the last quarter of the year.
The official highlighted the attendance of citizens at the voting centers since the early hours of the morning. “It was an extraordinary day today; the neighbors in the family fell to vote very early to choose their projects; an electoral holiday in our country,” said Prado.
According to the balance sheet provided by the head of Communes, the process was carried out with 11,495 electoral centers and 12,769 voting stations, where more than 48,000 community councils participated. “Our people have responded very well, they have chosen their projects,” he said, highlighting the massive intervention of millions of men and women, as well as the presence of youth.
Regarding the next steps, Prado indicated that the execution of the works will be linked to the holidays at the end of the year. “We are going to combine this election holiday with the holidays; we are going to execute projects in this last quarter of the year,” he said. Finally, he stressed that the day made it possible to send a message to the world about the country's unity in defense of its democracy.
