The Minister of Popular Power for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, stated that all the conditions are in place for the Second National Consultation 2026 to be an exemplary democratic day, which will reaffirm the will of the Venezuelan people to deepen the model of communal government.
Prado emphasized the maturity of Popular Power to assume the direct management of territorial projects and the administration of public resources.
“All the conditions are in place for it to be a democratic day where Venezuela will send a message to the world that we want peace, work and deepen our model of democracy. The People want to continue participating, to be part of the decisions, to manage the resources of the National Budget and to assume responsibility for solving community problems,” he emphasized.
During an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he highlighted the exponential growth that this participatory policy has experienced since its inception, highlighting how the effectiveness of the process has motivated the mass incorporation of communities without political distinction.
“In 2024, we began the first consultation with the participation of 42,000 Community Councils out of the 49,000 that exist in the country. That grew little by little as a result of the effectiveness of this process, and currently, for the first time, we achieved the historic participation of 48,86 Community Councils,” he said after noting that citizens have been unified to solve the specific problems of their territories.
He also highlighted the incorporation of new urban sectors to this management model. “We are responding to the call to convene condominium meetings, which have actively joined this working method. An enriching debate is being generated about the Venezuelan communal model, demonstrating that it is an integrative and inclusive process,” he said.
For his part, the Deputy Minister for Urban Agriculture, Elías Sánchez, valued the emotional and transformative impact generated by the direct execution of projects by organized people.
“There is a sense of passion in communities when they have the opportunity to execute a resource and see the solution to their problems materialized,” said Sánchez.
He argued that this electoral event not only represents a democratic exercise and a milestone for active participation, but also confirms the importance of fieldwork and debate prior to the votes to ensure that the voice of the People is heard.
