The Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC), in coordination with an inter-institutional team, managed to rescue a specimen of slime approximately one and a half meters long in the municipality of El Hatillo in the state of Miranda. The reptile, belonging to the species Caiman crocodilus, was located on Tuesday outside its natural habitat on Calle B7 in the La Lagunita residential area.
The entity, through its web portal, highlighted that the presence of the animal in the residential area immediately activated security protocols to protect the inhabitants of the sector and guarantee the integrity of the specimen. At the site of the discovery, the Civil Protection team provided timely care and practiced careful asepsis in the reptile's tail area, a necessary procedure to prevent complications and ensure its physical stability before transfer.
For temporary protection, the specimen was moved to the Caicaguanal Center, where it will remain under strict preventive observation. In these facilities, the relevant clinical evaluations will be completed and the most appropriate shelter center will be determined to facilitate their subsequent release into an ecosystem compatible with their species, as part of conservation plans and responsible management of wildlife.
This successful rescue was consolidated through the immediate articulation between El Hatillo Civil Protection, PoliHatillo and the Ecosocialist Territorial Unit of the Capital District. The joint action reaffirms the commitment of State institutions to the protection of biodiversity and effective care for contingencies involving wildlife outside their natural environment.
