The Deputy Ministers of Integral Waste Management, Mailing Perdomo; and Environmental Management Services, Carola Herrera, carried out a technical inspection of the Tumremo landfill facilities, in Esequiba Guiana.
The inspection was carried out with the purpose of diagnosing the current state of the space and coordinating effective actions for the collection, sanitation and sustainable use of solid waste, according to the press release of the Ministry of Popular Power for Ecosocialism (MINEC).
The authorities toured the land consisting of five hectares, where they verified the existence of an infrastructure that will be used for the prompt installation of a recycling plant, aimed at the circular economy and the classification of materials, creating direct jobs for the communities that work in the area.
In addition, important recommendations were given for the proper management of solid wastes, with an emphasis on pathological waste protocols.
The area generates more than 2,746 tons of waste and solid waste. Faced with this situation, the ministerial team ordered the immediate sanitation of surrounding roads and adjacent areas in order to eradicate the accumulation of scattered waste.
