Officials from Detachment 521 of the Zone Command No. 52 of the Bolivarian National Guard (CZGNB-52) of the state of Anzoátegui, rescued a cunaguaro (Leopardus pardalis), in the town of Urica, Freites municipality of the entity.

The information was released by the regional office of the Ministry of the People's Power of Ecosocialism (MINEC) on its Instagram account, where it was detailed that the rescue of the wildlife specimen was made thanks to a citizen complaint.

“It all started when military personnel received the report from the community who were terrified because they thought that the feline, belonging to our wildlife, was a jaguar,” the MINEC reports in a press release.

The note details that the puppy was found tied to a tree with a black braid around his neck, and “the man who had it said that he found the calf alone in the field and that he presumed that his mother had abandoned him”.

The animal was received at the regional headquarters of MINEC, located in the Palotal sector of Barcelona, where it will be in shelter, while they are looking for a safe place to relocate, because of its young age it will not be able to return to nature. The Cunaguaro was baptized with the name of Pedrito and received his first veterinary consultation, through which it was determined that he is a male and that he is 2 months old.
