This Wednesday, after an extensive day of debates, the Senate in Mexico approved the reform of the Judiciary promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).

The reform was approved with 86 votes, equivalent to two-thirds of the 127 senators present in the upper house of the Mexican Congress, which is dominated by the ruling Morena party and its allies.

The Senate session was suspended due to the eruption of demonstrators against judicial reform at the headquarters of the legislative body, who sang cries against the senators who supported the initiative and the Mexican president.

After the incident, the president of the Senate, Fernández Noroña, reported that the debate would resume in the former seat of that Parliament, known as the House of Xicoténcatl.
