The Mérida Symphony Orchestra was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation, in a historic event that took place in the Cuicas hall of the Mucumbarila Convention Center, located in the Libertador municipality of the Andean entity.

This was announced by the Government of Mérida through its Instagram account, in which it highlighted that the statement was made by the governor of the entity, Jheyson Guzmán.

He also highlighted that this event had a musical repertoire of a high aesthetic and academic level, in which more than 200 people participated.

This distinction recognizes the tireless work of the orchestra and its impact on the cultural life of Mérida, so the community is proud to have a non-profit institution that promotes symphonic and chamber music, which actively involves the inhabitants of the state.

The Mérida Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1991, has stood out for its commitment to classical music and its contribution to the cultural enrichment of the region and the country, under the musical direction of Miguel Pineda Záccara, which offers a diverse and high aesthetic repertoire.
