Meléndez: We pay tribute to the people who came out on 27F to assert their voice in the face of neoliberalism

This Tuesday, the mayor of the Libertador municipality of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, commemorated and paid tribute to the victims of the Caracazo of February 27, 1989.

“We met in Plaza Bolívar in El Valle, to commemorate that date and pay homage to the rebellious people who took to the streets to assert their voice, in the face of the neoliberalism and injustice that was being experienced for the time being,” he said from the parish of El Valle.

In this regard, he highlighted the impetus and impotence that moved so many women and men, who in Caracas left their mark on the neoliberal policies of the adeco government of Carlos Andrés Pérez.
