Mélenchon highlighted the political model promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez in Venezuela

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who led the victory of the left-wing coalition called the New Popular Front in France, highlighted the social, political and economic model promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez that continues President Nicolás Maduro, among other South American governments.

In this regard, he indicated that with his party he has worked with clear thoughts and driven theories “that we have taken from here in Latin America, what Chávez, Cristina (Argentina), Correa (Ecuador) did”.

In addition, he indicated that South America has dared to face capitalism and to build a model closer to the Peoples, while what the right is doing is only attacking a social model in favor of the majority.

“Those who built alternatives to neoliberalism are South America (...) while they (right) didn't do anything, they just keep repeating propaganda against Cuba, Venezuela, without knowing where Venezuela is or who Maduro is,” Mélenchon said.

He also praised the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in Mexico and urged that unity be continued to be built.
