Meet the groups for the World Baseball Classic 2026 (+Venezuela)

With a year and a half left until the World Baseball Classic 2026, Major League Baseball (MLB) announced that the four groups will be formed in the different venues where the prestigious tournament will be played in its sixth edition.
Puerto Rico will once again host matches in this competition for the first time since 2013, while the city of Houston, United States (USA), will host its first games of the World Cup tournament.
In addition, the Tokyo Dome, in Japan, will once again host Asian and European teams. It is the only stadium that has hosted the World Baseball Classic in all its editions.
Finally, LoanDepot Park in Miami will once again have action from the first round to the decisive game that will be played on Tuesday, March 17.
The format will once again be 5 teams per group, with two teams advancing to the quarterfinals. 16 of the 20 teams are already qualified, while the other 4 will seek a place through the elimination tournaments of the different continents.
This is how the four groups are formed:
Group A — Hiram Bithorn/San Juan, Puerto Rico: Puerto Rico; Cuba; Canada; Panama and Ranked 1.
Group B — Minute Maid Park/Houston, United States: United States; Mexico; Italy; Great Britain and Ranked 2.
Group C — Tokyo Dome/Tokyo, Japan: Japan; Australia; South Korea; Czech Republic and Qualified 3.
Group D — LoanDepot park/Miami, United States: Venezuela; Dominican Republic; Netherlands; Israel and Ranked 4.
Quarterfinals: The first two teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals that will be played in Houston and Miami.
Game 1: Second place in Group A vs. First place in Group B. Houston — March 13.
Game 2: Second place in Group B vs. First place in Group A. Houston — March 14.
Game 3: Second place in Group C vs. First place in Group D. Miami — March 13.
Game 4: Second place in Group D vs. First place in Group C. Miami — March 14.
Semifinal 1: March 15 — Miami
Semifinal 2: March 16 — Miami
Grand Final: March 17 - Miami.
