Mayors of Jesús Enrique Lossada and Catatumbo arrested in Operation Lightning in Zulia (+Press Release)

This Saturday, through a statement issued by the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, the Bolivarian Government announced the arrest of two mayors of the state of Zulia for their participation in the drug trafficking network that sought to be installed in this entity.

The detainees are citizens Danilo Añez and Fernando Loaiza Chacón, mayors of the municipalities Jesús Enrique Lossada and Catatumbo, respectively; and of Orangel José Paz Villalobos, director of Public Security of the Almirante Padilla municipality.

In this operation, it is indicated that seven boat-type boats were also seized.

The Government ratified its commitment “to the fight against drug paramilitarism, structured organized crime groups and criminal gangs that intend to use national soil as land for the development of illegal activities” and stressed that this operation will continue to advance as part of actions to guarantee peace and sovereignty “whoever falls”.
