The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, recalled this Wednesday the popular victory obtained in the presidential elections of October 7, 2012, when the Venezuelan people reaffirmed their support for Commander Hugo Chávez.

The mayor described that triumph as a patriotic event that today is being celebrated mobilized. “A patriotic triumph that we celebrate today mobilized, in Caracas, remembering that blessed rain that imbued streets and avenues with patriotism, joy and revolutionary loyalty.”
Meléndez invited citizens to march to commemorate 14 years of that victory.
“All and all united, up to the corner of Corazón de Jesús, in the center of the capital city,” he said.
On October 7, 2012, Commander Hugo Chávez won his third presidential re-election with 55.07 percent of the votes, compared to 44.31 percent obtained by Henrique Capriles, candidate of the Bureau of Democratic Unity.
The victory came five months before the death of the Commander, who remained undefeated in all the electoral contests in which he participated.
