The master of kinetic art Juvenal Ravelo received a tribute for his almost 80-year career in the plastic arts, during an event held at the Armando Reverón Museum of Contemporary Art in Caracas (MACCAR).

According to information from the Ministry for Culture, the activity was led by the head of the Great Living Venezuela Mission, My Beloved Homeland, Tarek William Saab, who highlighted the national and international projection of Ravelo's work and its contribution to new generations.

“Juvenal Ravelo is a teacher who began his work in eastern Venezuela, projected his art in Europe and became an inspiration for new generations,” he said.

During the meeting, Ravelo highlighted the collective nature of his proposal “Art of Participation in the Street”, an initiative he developed 51 years ago to bring plastic arts closer to communities.

He also recalled that his first experience took place in 1975, in the sector where he was born, after returning from Paris with his chromatic modules.

The artist also defended the role of culture in social development and pointed out that “the world of culture must be the main engine of any system, whether public or private”.

For her part, the director of MACCAR, Mary Pemjean, highlighted the human dimension of her work and its contribution to the democratization of plastic arts through the participation of children, young people and communities.
