María Antonia Bolívar: The realist most loved by the Liberator (+seeding)

On October 7, 1842, María Antonia Bolívar y Palacios, older sister of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, died in Caracas . With a tough character, he always showed an affinity for the realistic cause, yet he had good relations with his brother.
His position with regard to the independence movements was contrary to his brother's ideals. María Antonia Bolívar was not a supporter of Independence. In 1813, while Bolivar was issuing the War to the Death Decree from Trujillo, she hid and protected consummate realists in her home in Caracas.
In 1814, when the capital was about to fall into realistic hands, Bolívar ordered the evacuation of the city. María was reluctant to leave, but her brother managed to persuade her that when Caracas fell, they would have no mercy on her. In this way, he fled Venezuela to Curaçao, with his children and with his sister Juana. In 1816, from Curaçao, she wrote a letter to the King of Spain asking him not to penalize her for carrying the surname Bolívar, since she was still faithful to the monarchy.
He spent his last years in a ranch house, located in Macarao. After the death of the Liberator, María Antonia dedicated her life to the home and to the administration of family assets. His death occurred two months before Bolívar's remains returned to Caracas in December 1842.
