Regarding the celebration of the solemn session of the National Assembly (AN) this Sunday, commemorating the Bicentenary of the Appointment of the Liberator Simon Bolivar as a Mexican citizen, Marcela Mora, president of the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Senate of the United Mexican States, highlighted the importance of defending the sovereignty of Peoples from foreign interventions.

“Throughout Latin America, our sovereignties want to be stained by foreign powers with their blockades, who want to stain us with blood with exercises of hegemony to subdue the insurgent people, the free people who know that self-determination is their reason for being and to remain. However, Bolívar's words remind us that we must resist strong in unity and that we must resist any attempt to undermine our autonomy and self-determination, that is, to honor Bolivarian doctrine is to build bridges between our sister countries. That is the real homeland, the legacy of Simon Bolivar,” he said.

The representative of the Mexican Legislative Branch pointed out that Bolívar “is more than a historical figure, he is a living and relevant example for Latin America and the world.”

Mora specified that our obligation as peoples is “to defend Latin American unity, that is the thought of Simon Bolivar alive 200 years later in everyone who lives and is republished every time every day.”

In this regard, he said that “today the right wing seeks to weaken public education and we are not going to allow it, it seeks to promote discriminatory policies and exclude systematically violated groups from the benefits of society, however, we must remember the words of the liberator and remember equal access to education regardless of our sex, race or social condition.”

Finally, he called not to “abandon our continents in the face of new abuses of nepotism or allow it to be torn apart by external interests, it is time for the world to embrace respectful ambitions”.
