On October 20, 1976, Diego Armando Maradona made his professional soccer debut with Argentinos Juniors, the start of a prominent career and a legend.
Maradona entered the second half of the match against Talleres, and with the number 16 jersey he delighted the fans with a shot to the goal on the first ball he touched.
“I received the ball with my back to my scoreboard, which was Juan Domingo Cabrera, I threatened him and threw the ball between his legs; it went clean and I immediately heard the 'Oooooole' from the people, as a welcome,” he said in his book Yo Soy El Diego (2006).
Even though his team fell 1-0, attendees were able to see Maradona on the pitch for the first time. Pelusa was already famous for juggling between game times.
