The recent attacks of fascism and imperialism against Venezuela, in addition to seeking to subdue the people, want to destabilize and divide the left-wing movements in Latin America, said the member of the European Parliament, Manu Pineda.

“They are aware that in Venezuela they are not going to succeed because here there is a people who have demonstrated strength and have a civic-military-police union that they have failed to break. What they are doing in Venezuela is not in the short term to destroy the Bolivarian Revolution; what they are doing here is to divide the Latin American left, let's not fall into that,” Pineda emphasized in an interview with Con El Mazo Dando as part of the development of the World Congress against Fascism, Neo-Fascism and other similar expressions.

In this regard, the militant parliamentarian of the Communist Party of Spain, highlighted the importance of maintaining the unity of revolutionary movements to face the advances of fascism in the world.

“We have to have unity. If we take the bait of imperialism, believing that if we join them and adhere to their discourses, they will not forgive being on the left. Let's not fall into that trap, unity is necessary,” he stressed.

Bases of Fascism

When asked about the elements that, in his opinion, have served to promote the revival of fascism in the world, Pineda assured that one of the causes could be that imperialism is dying so it clings to wars to try to keep it alive.

The other cause of the resurgence of this scourge, in Pineda's opinion, could be the fascists' management of the collective media to, with false speeches, sell themselves as hope.

“Fascism is born of the fear of the privileged classes to lose their privileges. They understand this and stimulate the collective's fears, using crude lies, to create a spiral of hate, fear and anxiety, which they then seek to calm down with the hope they claim to suppose. They (the fascists) talk about politicians as if they were not a party and transmit messages making the people believe that they are like them, they sell themselves as hope,” he explained.

He also explained that the extreme right uses the media and social networks to spread their messages and defend their interests. “Before at least they disguised it, but now, shamelessly, they invent news and sell it to justify their actions and defend their interests,” he said.

A Laboratory Called Venezuela

Also, Pineda assured that fascism and imperialism have used Venezuela as a laboratory to test strategies that serve to destroy progressive governments.

“In 25 years they have tried everything. Assassinations, provoking military uprisings, economic war, and sabotage, and they have not succeeded. Venezuela is a laboratory where they have tested everything,” he stressed while insisting on the importance of peoples remaining united in defense of their sovereignty, independence and ownership of their natural resources.

“It is necessary that we see ourselves as a whole, that we see that there are many of us, and that we need to have a work plan that allows us to hit fascism with one fist and knock it down, otherwise they will kill us,” he stressed.
