Presidential candidates Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Flávio Bolsonaro will face each other again on October 25 in the second round of elections in Brazil, according to results published by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
At 99.99% of the vote, the results showed Bolsonaro, from the extreme right Liberal Party, with 47.03% of the votes (56,104,049), followed by the historic leader of the Workers' Party, with 45.16% (53,876,219).
Bolsonaro maintained an advantage throughout the ballot, with percentages above 48% for the most part, while Lula started from around 40% and gained ground, reduced the initial advantage of the extreme right by more than eight points and is heading for the ballot with a difference of about two points, in a scenario that the second-round polls already showed a tie.
