On December 4, 1988, the Marxist poet Luis José Silva, better known as Ludovico Silva, died in Caracas, after his nickname of profound artistic reminiscences in honor of the Italian poet Ludovico de Ariosto. This writer, poet, journalist, philosopher and university professor masterfully wrote in his rich bibliographic work that “capitalism is capable of transforming everything it touches into exchange value (merchandise): it is the only value that is truly valuable to it”.

Silva obtained his degree from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). He studied in several European and American countries. He served as Secretary General of the Ateneo de Caracas, whose magazine Papeles he co-founded. His political and social ideology was always reflected in his works, so he represents an academic and contextual reference for understanding the intentions of capitalism and how it acted in the governments of the Fourth Republic. In 1970 he published what has become one of the classics of contemporary philosophy: Ideological Surplus Value. His many publications include the Anti-Manual for Marxists, Marxologists and Martians, published with great success in 1976.

This writer is considered to be one of the most important Venezuelan intellectuals of the 20th century, and one of the country's main Marxist thinkers. In his honor, numerous talks, forums and discussions have been held so that revolutionary youth can understand the foundations of our Bolivarian Revolution. A Revolution that, like Ludovico did, works by and for the people.
